5 Must-Read Books for Entrepreneurs (Guest Post)

5 Books Entrepreneurs Must Read!

Hey everyone, it's Matt here from BookMattic.com. I'm happy as ever to be writing a guest post for you. Alex and I both have the same interest in helping others through our own personal reading, life experiences and suggestions. That's why I have decided to provide you with a list of 5 books entrepreneurs must read starting from the fifth most beneficial to the first most beneficial business book I've read.

Make sure to read all the way until the end to see which book got number one!

#5: Contagious by Jonah berger

I believe that every entrepreneur should know a bit about marketing techniques even if you don't do much of the marketing for your business personally. In Contagious, by Jonah Berger, you'll learn about the six STEPPS he created as tools you can use to up your marketing game.

Some of the tools range from which kinds of emotions best trigger the virality of your product to how stories can help people engrain your product into their memory. It's a quick, easy and applicable book.

Contagious is a book entrepreneurs will never regret having handy on their bookshelf.

Favorite Quote:

People don’t think in terms of information. They think in terms of narratives. But while people focus on the story itself, information comes along for the ride.

#4: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

The Alchemist amazed me! You'll either hate it or love it. If you haven't read it by now, go pick it up or download it today.

For me, the book was beautifully written with a powerful message to follow through with the passion that drives you. There were tons of other quotable quotes and takeaways mixed in with a fantastical story.

One of the best ways to remember information is through stories which is why, in my opinion, this is one of the most powerful books entrepreneurs must read.

Favorite Quote:

There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.

#3: The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg

This book is a must-have-on-your-bookshelf book! The Power of Habit has a simple yet extremely powerful formula for recognizing and helping to change your habit for the better. The formula is so simple that anyone can apply it to stop the ugliest or most dangerous habits or start the most healthy habits.

The author, Charles Duhigg, a journalist, brings you through three sections of the book using stories as examples. I found the topics of each section to be useful as one talks about how habits form in individuals, the next talks about successful organizations and last talks about social movements or habits in societies.

If you believe you can change – if you make it a habit – the change becomes real.

Find Your Why is the companion book or workbook to Start With Why. If you've already read Start With Why but haven't read Find Your Why yet you should strongly consider checking this book out. For me, it just brought the message of both books home as well as helping me in discovering my own Why.

The book is fairly simple and helps you along a few exercises, one for individuals and one for groups or companies. These exercises will help you or your company to narrow your Why down to pin point accuracy. Actually following through with each exercise is highly recommended in order to reach the full potential of starting with why.

I also recommend reading Start With Why before you even pick this one up.

Favorite Quote:

If we want to feel an undying passion for our work, if we want to feel we are contributing to something bigger than ourselves, we all need to know our WHY.

Where Find Your Why narrowed my purpose and focus of my business, Start With Why made me aware of the purpose within myself and all the other companies that have ever been in existence.

The concept is so simple yet very hard to put into words since your Why comes from the part of the brain which does not control language. However, this book does not explain how to find your own why. So, I highly recommend for you to read Find Your Why directly after this one.

If you've ever watched Simon Sinek's TED Talk 'Start With Why' then you already know the bones of this book. If you do end up reading it you'll be able to fill in those bones with organs, muscle and flesh through the touching and inspiring stories Simon Sinek tells.

Another thing that makes this book unmistakably the best is it shows you what true leadership actually means and how companies and individuals have achieved success through having a clear vision.

Favorite Quote:

The role of a leader is not to come up with all the great ideas. The role of a leader is to create an environment in which great ideas can happen.
